Che cos'è un Tiristore a Controllo di Fase (Phase Control Thyristor)?

Un tiristore, noto anche come raddrizzatore controllato al silicio (silicon controlled rectifier – SCR), è un dispositivo a semiconduttore unidirezionale a stato solido realizzato in silicio. Fondamentalmente, un tiristore o SCR è una struttura a quattro strati di semiconduttori al silicio di tipo p-n-p-n.

Infatti, SCR (Silicon Controlled Rectifier) è il nome commerciale dato al tiristore dalla General Electric Company.

Tiristori a controllo di fase

Il tiristore agisce come un interruttore (o un fermo), conducendo quando il gate riceve un trigger di corrente e continuando a condurre fino a quando la tensione ai capi del dispositivo non viene invertita o la tensione viene rimossa. In un tiristore a tre terminali, una piccola corrente al suo conduttore di gate controlla la corrente maggiore del percorso da Anodo a Catodo.

Tiristori a controllo di fase

I tiristori a controllo di fase sono generalmente utilizzati nelle apparecchiature elettriche che utilizzano il controllo di fase, per modificare la tensione di uscita o attivare o disattivare l'alimentazione di corrente, operando a basse frequenze (il più delle volte vicino alla frequenza di rete CA).

I tiristori hanno perdite molto basse nello stato di conduzione, il che li rende dispositivi attraenti per il controllo efficiente di correnti ed energie molto elevate.

Tutti i tiristori a disco presentati in questo sito hanno un alloggiamento ceramico standard di tipo press-pack. Vengono pressati con una forza relativamente elevata in dissipatori di calore che fungono anche da contatti elettrici con i terminali del tiristore.

La corrente nominale in avanti ITAV va da 100A a 15000A e la tensione di blocco inversa VRRM va da 100V a 9000V.

Per i tiristori a controllo di fase, a differenza dei tiristori veloci o dei tiristori a commutazione rapida, il tempo di accensione e il tempo di spegnimento non sono standardizzati.

Oggi i tiristori a controllo di fase (Phase Control Thyristors - PCT) sono un componente chiave in raddrizzatori ad alta potenza, soft starter, alimentatori, raddrizzatori a controllo di fase, inversione ad alta potenza, controllo di motori CA e CC, commutazione CA/CC, sistemi di qualità dell'energia, ecc. È la scelta numero uno nelle applicazioni ad alta potenza in cui sono richieste le massime prestazioni, affidabilità e basse perdite di conduzione.

Tiristori di controllo di fase Dynex Semiconductor

I tiristori a controllo di fase Dynex della serie DCR vanno dai 1200V utilizzati per le forniture domestiche agli 8500V per le applicazioni a media tensione. Correnti nominali da 370A a 6600A. L'elevata capacità di sovraccarico rende i tiristori adatti ad applicazioni senza fusibili. Funzionando a frequenze di linea in cui le perdite di commutazione sono ridotte, le basse perdite di conduzione dei tiristori a controllo di fase aumentano l'efficienza del sistema.

Dissipatori raffreddati ad aria e ad acqua per tiristori a disco

Il funzionamento dei dispositivi a semiconduttore ad alte correnti e alte tensioni inverse è accompagnato da un'elevata potenza nella giunzione p-n del chip di silicio.

Per il raffreddamento dei tiristori SCR di potenza si utilizzano dissipatori di calore ad aria e ad acqua.

Il dissipatore di calore è caratterizzato dal valore della potenza dissipata e dall'area della superficie di raffreddamento e viene scelto in base alla dissipazione di calore richiesta alla potenza di funzionamento del tiristore.

Nei tiristori a disco, la necessaria compressione dei contatti della pressa è assicurata solo se sono assemblati con dissipatori di calore.

Per mantenere le perdite elettriche al minimo e la dissipazione del calore al massimo, durante il montaggio è necessario garantire la necessaria forza di serraggio Fm.

L'intervallo di valori della forza assiale sul tiristore Fm, cioè la forza di compressione del tiristore, va da 10 kN a 100 kN a seconda del diametro del contenitore (tipo di alloggiamento) ed è specificato nella scheda tecnica.

I dissipatori sono utilizzati per semiconduttori a disco con diametro della superficie di contatto da Ø19 mm a Ø100 mm.

Raccomandazioni per l'installazione di tiristori a disco

Montaggio del tiristore a disco con dissipatore di calore

L'affidabilità del trasferimento di calore e del contatto elettrico tra le superfici di accoppiamento del tiristore e del raffreddatore per l'intero intervallo di temperatura è garantita da una coppia di serraggio adeguata (forza di serraggio).

Prima del montaggio è necessario eseguire un'ispezione visiva (1) delle superfici di contatto per verificare l'assenza di danni meccanici e pulire con uno straccio (2), imbevendo di alcol (toluene, benzina, acetone).

Dopo l'ispezione, fissare i contatti di corrente, installare un perno per fissare l'allineamento della struttura.

Per migliorare i parametri di trasferimento del calore si consiglia di lubrificare (3) un sottile strato di pasta termoconduttiva al silicone prima del montaggio, che non è una condizione obbligatoria per l'installazione.

Installare il tiristore (3), la seconda parte del raffreddatore, l'isolatore in fibra di vetro e la rondella di spinta.

Infilare la traversa (4) e serrare uniformemente i dadi. Assicurarsi che non vi siano disallineamenti e che le superfici di contatto siano uniformi.

Quando le parti sono sufficientemente bloccate ma mobili, si consiglia di posizionare il raffreddatore su una superficie piana e di controllare la tolleranza di parallelismo del piano complessivo adiacente delle superfici (5).

Ruotare ciascun dado (di circa un quarto di giro) fino all'arresto (6). L'entità della deflessione della traversa determina se la forza di serraggio ottenuta corrisponde alla forza di serraggio richiesta.

Dopo l'installazione, gli elementi di fissaggio (dadi e rondelle) devono essere ulteriormente protetti dalla corrosione.


Suggerimenti e raccomandazioni per i tiristori di potenza:

I tiristori di potenza non dovrebbero funzionare per lunghi periodi di tempo al loro carico limite per tutti i parametri. In questo caso, il fattore di sicurezza è determinato dal grado di affidabilità richiesto del dispositivo.

Sostituire un tiristore di potenza guasto con un tiristore che corrisponda ai parametri di quello da sostituire.

Il processo di funzionamento in un ambiente con un alto livello di temperatura deve essere accompagnato da un raffreddamento forzato.

Per garantire una corretta dissipazione del calore, si raccomanda la pulizia periodica dei tiristori di potenza e dei raffreddatori per rimuovere polvere e contaminanti.

Per equalizzare le correnti tra i tiristori di potenza collegati in parallelo è necessario utilizzare dei divisori di corrente induttivi (spesso fili toroidali intrecciati). I metodi di collegamento più diffusi sono il circuito chiuso, il circuito a bobina comune o il tiristore di potenza. L'efficienza dei divisori di corrente in questo caso è determinata dalla sezione del filo magnetico.

La prevenzione dello squilibrio di tensione quando i tiristori di potenza sono collegati in serie si ottiene utilizzando resistenze shunt collegate in parallelo a ciascun tiristore. L'equalizzazione della tensione in condizioni transitorie si ottiene collegando condensatori in parallelo a ciascun tiristore.

È severamente vietato toccare i tiristori di potenza sotto tensione.
